What is 1414 Degrees technology in the Energy Sector?


The 1414 Degrees technology is positioned for worldwide expansion and will stabilize renewable energy sources so that clean energy is always accessible to everyone. The Glenelg Wastewater Treatment Plant in Adelaide has begun using the thermal energy storage system (TESS) built by the Australian business 1414 Degrees.

According to Jamie Summons, Biogas from the wastewater treatment facility will be converted by the new thermal energy storage system. A 40-foot shipping container is around the same size as the 10MWh storage unit.


"This marks a crucial stage in the commissioning process, starting the burners for the first time and heating the thermal energy store," stated Dr. Kevin Moriarty, executive chairman of 1414 Degrees. Importantly, we will test the revenue model by paying for the biogas we use and selling energy at market rates.

He continued by saying that 1414 Degrees was the first company in the world to create a technology that stores biogas as thermal energy for on-demand production of heat and power.
